He did the crime and did the time. Teen Mom OG star Ryan Edwards is out of jail after just three months, Radar confirmed on Monday, April 15. So, what are Ryan’s next steps? Will he see his family again right away? Scroll through the gallery below to get all the details.
Hamilton County Court in Tennessee told the publication that Ryan, 31, was released from prison on April 15. Despite the drama, his wife, Mackenzie Edwards, has been holding down the fort and taking care of the kids in his absence.
Hamilton County Jail in Chattanooga, Tennessee revealed that the MTV personality was arrested at 12:45 a.m. for theft of services under $1,000 on January 23. He appeared in court a few days later on January 28, where he was told that he would be staying in prison until April.
The clerk confirmed to Radar that Ryan was arrested for having heroin with him in Red Bank County. According to the clerk, a warrant was likely out for his arrest in Red Bank at the time. Ryan broke probation from a past heroin possession charge in 2017.
Prior to his arrest, Ryan reportedly downed six whiskey drinks without paying at Bud’s Sports Bar in Chattanooga, Tennessee, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. A server notified the police that he got up and walked out of the place.
Since Ryan was away, he missed the birth of his second son, Jagger. Fortunately, his wife understood and stood by his side. “If I did not love Ryan, I would call him the most selfish asshole for missing this, but this is a drop in this baby’s life,” she said on the show. “If he’s gonna miss him being born and be healthy forever, I mean, what more could I ask for?”
Larry, Ryan’s mom, Jen, and Mackenzie haven’t seen Ryan since January 2019. “No, I haven’t visited him,” he said. “At jail, it’s not like on TV. You go into a room. It’s a video. He sits in one room, and the family is in another.”
However, Larry has communicated with his son via cellphone during his jail stint. Ryan’s dad is looking forward to having his son back. “Ryan is excited to come home and be with all of us,” he admitted. “He said he’s missed us, and he loves us. I’m excited. It’s been a long time.”
Maci Bookout — Ryan’s ex — has always expressed her concerns about Ryan. “To be honest with you, I feel better that he is in jail because I know he’s safe there,” she said on the podcast “Coffee Convos With Kailyn Lowry and Lindsie Chrisley” in August 2018. “I know he’s not driving around or doing something that could potentially hurt him or an innocent person. It sucks, it’s a crappy situation for everyone.”
Maci, 27, admitted that she has never tried to hide from Bentley what is going on with his dad. “No one ever wants to tell their child that someone terrible has happened to their parent,” she said. “He understands, he doesn’t ever ask questions. We fill him on whatever is going on and as sad as he is, the reason he doesn’t ever ask questions is that its kind of just always been this way.”
