If you’re anything like us, you’ve been waiting for Stranger Things Season 3 to come out ever since you binged Season 2 in one day. Well, we’re all in luck because Netflix did us all a huge favor and gave confirmation of a third season via Twitter on Friday, Dec. 1! After creating a poll asking their four million followers whether or not they should go through with another season, they put fans at ease and tweeted, “FOR THE LOVE OF STEVE, DUH! So hold tight baby darts — Season 3 is officially happening.”

Garnering more than 12,000 retweets and 25,000 likes in just about an hour, it’s clear that fans are more than ready to get back to The Upside Down. “I’m genuinely actually screaming my LUNGS OFF,” one fan tweeted in response. Another added, “I’m so happy omg it’s just wow I NEED IT RN!! When is it gonna be released???”

Even though we’re all geared up for the latest installment of the sci-fi smash hit, it might take a little longer than we hope for them to actually produce the episodes. Matt and Ross Duffer, the brother-duo who created the show, opened up to E! News shortly after the second season aired and gave insight into the future of Hawkins. At the time of the interview, the brothers were only two days into writing the next season, so they didn’t have too much to give away.

"There will be a time jump for sure,” Ross explained. Though they don’t know exactly how long the series will last — especially because their all-star cast is full of quickly-growing kids — they see it continuing after Season 3. "I think, you know, four to five seasons is likely where we'll end up, but who knows?” he went on. “I mean, none of this official, and we know where we want to go. We're trying to figure out still how long it'll take to get there, so we'll see."

There’s no official release date for the newest season, but hey, at least we know it’s definitely happening! And if you happen to be someone who doesn’t care because you didn’t see the first two seasons, run, do not walk, to Netflix and binge!
