Roger Mathews Admits He’s ‘Cautiously Dating’ Following JWoww Split: ‘My Kids Are My Focus’
He’s taking it slow. Roger Mathews confessed that he’s open to meeting new women after finalizing his divorce with Jenni “JWoww” Farley in August 2019. During a new interview, the MTV alum revealed that he’s “casually and cautiously dating,” while clarifying their two kids — Meilani and Greyson — are his main “focus” at this time.
As far as what he’s looking for in a potential new flame, the 44-year-old told Us Weekly that he’s ideally hoping to find an “established woman with her career and personal life in order, who has similar likes and interests.” Roger said she also needs to be understanding that his children will always be his first priority.
“Communication is critical to me at this point in my life,” he added. “If you’re a bad communicator, we probably won’t make it far. I want peace and stability in my life for myself and my children.”
Even though the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star, 33, and Roger were at odds shortly after she filed for divorce from him back in September 2018, the exes have since worked out their differences and now they are happy to be coparenting cordially.
“I’m content knowing I left everything I had on the table with my marriage, and that’s not to say I was perfect in any way,” he shared about their union, which lasted three years. “It’s simply to say I fought for what I truly believed was right. Onwards and upwards. The world has enough negativity, and I want to start a brand new chapter and fill it with positivity.”
Roger later admitted that he would consider getting remarried to the right woman, but he finds the possibility “highly unlikely,” noting how he’s pleased with the way his life is currently going. The Maine native proudly revealed that he’s been trying to become the best version of himself in recent months, so he can be “a present and dedicated father.”
While discussing his past relationship, Roger also showed support to Jenni and her new beau, Zack Carpinello. “I have met Jenni’s new boyfriend once at our daughter’s 5th birthday party, and he seems to be a great guy and they seem to be in a great place,” he said. “Simply because it did not work out for us, I would never forgo my ex to find happiness. Even though they may be separate homes now, our children need happy homes to grow up in, and I wish Jenni and Zack all the best. Truly.”
