A possible future collab? R. Kelly‘s ex-girlfriend Azriel Clary seems to be in great spirits after the recent drama surrounding her. The 22-year-old took to Instagram on Friday, January 17, to show off her singing skills while she did her skincare routine and she really impressed her followers with her pipes.

“When your skincare routine lit,” Azriel captioned a video clip and added the fire and the “I love you” hand sign emoji. In the vid, of her washing her face while singing Roddy Ricch’s hit song, “High Fashion.” Even though it’s a rap song, Azriel put her own spin on the flow and gave it a melody, flaunting her impressive vocal range in the process. “This is why I am never on time 🤷🏾‍♀️🔥🥳,” she captioned the clip on Instagram.

Azriel’s supporters flooded the comments to gush over her talent. “I’ve literally watched this video like ten times your voice mahn [sic] ❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍,” one fan wrote. “Wow, you were a gift from God with that voice 😍🙌🏾,” another wrote.

But, of course, there were some naysayers in her comments as well. “But you swear you ain’t want a singing career SMH,” a fan wrote. “Miss I Didn’t Want a Singing Career,” another fan added with an eye roll emoji.

In March 2019, Azriel participated in an interview with Gayle King on CBS in order to deny the allegations that were being made against R. Kelly at the time. The disgraced R&B singer had been accused of luring in young and underage women in relationships with him with the promise of helping them to launch their singing careers.

“That’s another lie,” Azriel claimed at the time. “Let me tell you something about singing, actually. Before I even met R. Kelly, I told my parents I did not want to sing. My parents made singing like a job for me … It’s not something I wanted to do… Not only that, I even tried to kill myself because I did not want to sing, as a cry out for help, to tell them, this is not what I want to do with my life. This is not how I want to spend my life.”

Because of that comment, most fans call Azriel out when they see her singing on social media because they feel she lied about her intentions about having a singing career. A few hours after posted her recent singing video, Azriel posted a screenshot of a message she wrote to her haters on Facebook.

“It’s so sad how people don’t want to see you grow, be happy and chase your dreams. I had goals in 2015 … Why is it a crime to get my life back on track? Maybe me chasing my dreams is a form of healing? Maybe that’s a form of knowing I could have always done it had I believed in myself,” Azriel wrote. “Regardless I’m not going to let my past define me. I’m picking up the pieces and creating a better future for myself. I’m turning a negative into a positive and anyone should be happy to see someone who was once in a dark spot blossom.”

She continued, “No victim is the same, and every victim has a different thing to prove to themselves minus confidence, I was stripped of it, and lost… Along with my own voice my own mind and so forth. So as a woman, yes chasing my dreams is a form of healing whether you like it or not. You don’t have to live in my skin… I do and if this is what gives me peace of mind or sanity so be it. Call me whatever you want because the more you degrade me the more God will lift me up in a form that you’ll never be able to understand. 🦋💫.”

Kelly has continued to deny all allegations of sexual misconduct.
