It’s no easy feat to lose hundreds of pounds, but when Doug Armstrong’s My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now? episode aired backed in June, it was clear the reality star had put in the work. And now, almost half a year later, he’s looking better than ever. It’s clear the father-of-three has come so far in his weight loss journey, and it seems like his family’s help has been instrumental. Recently, Doug showed off his progress on Facebook, sharing a 2016 photo of him, his wife, Ashley, and their three kids and then another shot from 2018, and the difference is huge.

By the time his special was being filmed, Doug had already shed over 200 pounds, and his recent photos show he’s kept up his progress. “What a difference 2 years makes!!” he captioned the before-and-after pics. He even joked around a little with his friends, adding the hashtags #wearesmaller and #theyarebigger. How good is this family looking?

Friends, family, and fans were quick to shower the star with compliments and celebrate just how much progress he’s made over the years. But that wasn’t the only photo Doug shared to show his progress. Earlier in October, he also posted a side-by-side of profile pics old and new. “New challenge!!!!” he wrote on Facebook. “Take the very first photo you ever posted as your profile pic (OF YOURSELF) and post the most recent pic (also of yourself) to see what a big change it is!”

And it was quite the change. The star’s face was clearly slimmer, but that wasn’t the only thing we noticed. We also couldn’t help but focus on how his newer photo showed him actually looking at the camera. Not only that, but he’s also smiling and seems happy to have his photo taken rather than hiding his face. Now that’s the most important kind of progress, isn’t it?

All this change comes not long after the reality star shared a tribute to one of his fellow My 600-lb Life alums. Back in August, James “L.B.” Bonner tragically passed away after becoming a victim of suicide. The star had been sharing his own weight loss journey on social media after his time on the TLC show, and friends and fans alike were shocked by his loss. It seems that Doug was one of those friends.

“We’ve really been kinda lost in thought the last week,” Doug wrote on Facebook on Aug. 10. “We woke up last Thursday to the news that we lost a great friend. I guess we’ll never really know why, but we do know that he was a great guy, and a real inspiration to me personally. I have rarely met a kindred spirit like him. He had the same sense of humor as me and really understood my point of view as the BIG guy. He made people laugh and always seemed very happy. I am keeping his family and friends in my prayers and will never forget him. Rest in heaven L.B. Bonner.”

More recently, he also made a photo of himself and L.B. one of his profile pictures, and he’s made it a point to share statuses reaching out to friends who may be struggling with depression or thoughts of suicide. Whether he’s supporting the people he knows, sharing loving posts about his family, or showing off his own mental and physical progress, it’s clear that Doug’s doing pretty awesome these days. Keep it up, pal! We’re rooting for you!
