‘My 600-lb Life’ Alum Melissa Thanks Dr. Now for Helping Her Achieve Dream of Starting a Family
Feeling grateful. My 600-lb Life alum Melissa D. Morris revealed that she will always have a special place in her heart for Dr. Nowzaradan after he helped her drop nearly 500 pounds, which allowed her to start the family she always dreamed of.
The former TV personality took to Instagram with a heartwarming new photo of the surgeon posing with her three children. “Thank you @younannowzaradan 14 years ago I had my first 8 hour appointment with him,” she captioned the photo celebrating the anniversary of a very pivotal day in her life. “14 years later, these three are his biggest fans!”
“They just find it amazing that mom works for the cool doctor on television, but little do they know that without him they wouldn’t not be here! We love and respect you very much Doctor Nowzaradan and I will spend my life doing the best by you not only for me but for the three beautiful gifts you helped me achieve! Here is to another 14,” Melissa continued.
Back in September, the TLC alum shared a photo showing off her fresh hair cut, while also sharing some exciting news with her followers. Melissa confirmed that she secured a job working for her “favorite place in the world,” which she also referred to as her second home: Dr. Now’s office in Houston, Texas.
Melissa has overcome many trials and tribulations throughout her weight loss journey. Not long ago, she shared a portrait which shows how far she has come, despite the hurdles along the way. “One of the hardest days of my life hangs as a photo on my desk as a reminder … My mother in-law happened to snap a photo of the man who said something so hurtful and the world heard him,” she wrote alongside the snap, which was from a scene on the show where she was body-shamed.
On that very same episode, Melissa discussed her relationship with her husband, Chris Morris, who she met back in 1997. The pair opened up about their hopes to have a family one day, with Melissa saying, “that would be wonderful.”
“Before I lost the weight, I was miserable and barely living life,” Melissa said in her confessional. “And my dream was to have kids,” she added.
Melissa weighed 653 pounds before her gastric bypass surgery and afterwards, she lost nearly 500 pounds and got down to 157 pounds — having fluctuated since then due to having kids. Melissa and Chris are now the proud parents of three children, Allona, Elijah and Austin.
Nowadays, she looks absolutely amazing and is embracing the full joys of motherhood!
