It’s an unbearable pain she knows all too well. Bode Miller‘s wife, Morgan Miller (née Beck), showed support to Granger Smith’s family after the tragic drowning of his son, River Kelly. The star, who lost her own daughter due to drowning, said her “heart breaks” in an emotional message shared via Instagram.

“Another baby gone too soon,” the 32-year-old wrote in her Instagram Story. “It can truly happen to anyone,” Morgan continued, while adding a PSA to all of her followers. “I urge you to make your babies safer. Sign them up for swimming lessons,” she posted in another slide. Morgan also addressed how it’s important to add layers of protection surrounding the pool.

Granger, 39, broke the devastating news about his son, River, in a message shared via social media on June 6, and several fans shared their condolences in the comments as he opened up about his unthinkable loss. This afternoon, a rep for the singer confirmed to Us Weekly that the toddler’s cause of death was an accidental drowning at the family’s home located in Georgetown, Texas.

Fans could feel Granger’s pain when he spoke out about the incident in his statement. “We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith,” he wrote. “Following a tragic accident, and despite doctor’s best efforts, he was unable to be revived. Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life. Our family is devastated and heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.”

Morgan and her husband, 41, have sadly endured a similar heartbreak in the past as their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline, tragically drowned in a neighbor’s pool back in June 2018. In the wake of Emmy’s death, the couple has become fierce advocates for water safety to prevent other families from going through the same unfathomable experience. In April, the couple revealed that they have decided to already start teaching their young son, Easton, how to swim.

We’re keeping Granger’s family in our thoughts during this tough time.
