This is so heartbreaking. On Thursday, June 6, country singer Granger Smith shared with his fans that his youngest son, River Kelly, died following an accident. Now, celebrities are reacting to the tragic news on Instagram.

Maren Morris took the time to let Granger, 39, know that she is “thinking of you and your family at this time.” Morgan Evans commented, “So so sorry. Love to you all …” And Kane Brown reached out to say, “I’m here for you if you need anything at all bro just hit me up 🙏🏽.”

On June 6, Granger wrote on Twitter. “I have to deliver unthinkable news. We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith. Following a tragic accident, and despite doctor’s best efforts, he was unable to be revived. Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life. Our family is devastated and heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.”

Granger’s wife and River’s mom, Amber Barlett, took to Instagram to share the incredibly sad news as well. “Nothing can prepare a mother to deliver this kind of news,” she began her post. “We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith … Riv was special. Everyone that met him knew that immediately. The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts.”

There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this. . . In lieu of flowers or gifts, please send donations to Dell Children’s Medical Center in River’s name. The doctors, nurses and staff have been incredible.
