Even though Miranda Lambert is happily married to Brendan McLoughlin, the singer revealed why she chose to keep her nuptials under wraps this time around. “I was married before, and it was a huge wedding, and everything was very public. So was my divorce,” the 35-year-old told People magazine about her ex-husband, Blake Shelton. “I learned then that it’s not for everybody else. This is my actual life. With Brendan, I made it a point to keep it as private as I could for as long as I could.”

Miranda and Blake, 43, first performed together in 2005, but they were both seeing other people. Two years later, they posed together for the first time on the CMT Music Awards red carpet. The duo got married in 2011 but called it quits in 2015. Miranda admitted that writing songs helped her get over her breakup from the handsome hunk. “It was music, and using it as a healing device and like a therapy session,” she told USA Today. “The Weight of These Wings was so good for me because I got to write it all down, and a lot of people tell me, ‘Thank you, I needed that record, too.’ There’s so many layers to life and emotions — and especially women. We’re a lot! We’re complicated individuals. So, having music as my tool to move on was really a blessing.” Since then, the “God’s Country” crooner moved on with Gwen Stefani while Miranda found love with the NYPD cop, 28.

The blonde bombshell surprised her fans in February when she revealed she was officially off the market. “In honor of Valentine’s Day, I wanted to share some news,” she wrote on Instagram. “I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you, Brendan McLoughlin, for loving me for … me. #TheOne.” But there was one person in the dark: her ex Blake. “Blake was not given a head-ups and doesn’t know her husband,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “Since they split, they have had almost zero contact.”

However, the Texas native — who met Brendan when she appeared on Good Morning America in November — refuses to spill any more details about her big day. “I didn’t have nobody,” she explained. “That was mine and his moment.”

Despite being a celebrity, the Grammy winner still can’t understand why people are so intrigued by her love life. “I’m literally so normal,” she said. “Sometimes I’m like, ‘Why are y’all so interested?’ I’m thankful, but I’m never going to get used to the public eye in that way.” Luckily, the Staten Island native has adjusted to the limelight just fine. “To pull him into that world, I was like, ‘I’m sorry, this might be a shock.’ He just takes it like a champ. He’s better at it than I am.”

These days, Miranda is spending time with Brendan down south, and it seems like it’s really working out for the pair. “He loves Tennessee and wouldn’t move back to New York because he’s so happy there,” a source exclusively told In Touch. “He loves the Tennessee lifestyle.”

As long as Miranda is happy, then that’s all that matters!
