Meghan Markle’s Wedding Dress Is Definitely Duggar-Approved, According to Fans
The new Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle made headlines when she stepped out in her custom-made Givenchy wedding dress this past weekend. However, we don’t think that Prince Harry‘s bride expected to be given the Duggars seal of approval.
Fans of the TLC series were quick to point out that Meghan’s gown would definitely be considered a “fundie dress” due to its modest neckline and long sleeves. “Anyone else [thinks] Meghan Markle’s dress seems like a fundie dress?” one fan asked on reddit. While we would consider the gown a mixture of Anna and Jinger Duggar‘s wedding dresses, commenters were quick to point out one big difference between Meghan and the Duggar girls’ style.
“Meghan Markel chose an APPROPRIATE dress, that happened to be modest, whilst still showing off her own style,” one commenter explained. “The Duggar girls are rarely dressed suitably for any occasion because they have no choice. By drawing verbal attention toward imposed modesty, the Duggar girls have almost become immodest in their zeal… it’s prideful boasting and virtue signalling, as opposed to genuinely respecting an occasion.” Interesting…
They were also quick to point out that a Duggar would never show that much collarbone in a church. While the debate continues, there is no denying that Meghan’s second dress — a Stella McCartney halter top creation— would never make the cut at any Duggar nuptials. Surprisingly, none of the Duggar sisters commented publicly on the royal wedding, so we may never know what the family really thinks about Meghan’s dress.

Hopefully, Meghan’s dress will inspire Lauren Swanson in her upcoming wedding to Josiah Duggar. The couple announced their engagement this past March — and there was even some speculation they would tie the knot the same day as Meghan and Harry. “We are so excited to announce that Josiah and Lauren are officially engaged!” the Duggar fam wrote on their blog. “We have prayed for many years that the Lord would bring the right spouses to each of our children. We have known Lauren and her family for a very long time and have seen how she has grown in her knowledge and understanding of the Lord. She is a wonderful, caring, compassionate young lady, full of zeal for Christ. We are very thankful for her.”
