‘LHHNY’ Star Safaree Samuels Defends His ‘Extra’ AF Surprise Engagement To Erica Mena
He doesn’t care what the haters think! Love & Hip Hop: New York star Safaree Samuels proposed to his girlfriend, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Erica Mena, on Christmas Eve and the couple cannot stop sharing photos and videos of the romantic, surprise engagement. But some fans think that Safaree was doing way too much, so he took to Instagram to clap back.
“Some people like to say I’m extra, I like to say I’m just me and I’m different,” Safaree, 37, wrote in the caption of a video from the grandiose fireworks display that went off in Erica’s backyard after Safaree popped the question. “I thought of everything I could possibly [do] to make this an unforgettable moment and it was all executed perfectly! Merry Christmas.”
According to tons of videos and photos shared on social media, Safaree planned an intricate and extremely over-the-top surprise proposal for Erica. Erica revealed that Safaree picked out her outfit for what he originally told her was just a “date night,” and she wore a gorgeous white gown from Abyss by Abby.
As Erica walked down the stairs of her Atlanta home, she was greeted by live music performed by R&B group 112 and a trail of white candles and red rose petals that lead her to her love. At the end of the trail, Safaree waited for Erica in front of a table with three large rose floral displays. Shortly after Erica said yes, he led her outside to her backyard where a fireworks display went off in celebration of their engagement.
After Safaree’s surprise proposal, Erica took to Instagram to show off her gorgeous engagement ring, share details about her ring, and she even revealed that they already set a wedding date.
“I’m absolutely the luckiest woman in the world. A Man who has never been afraid to love me. A MAN [sic] who has been here and knows everything I been through. Everything before this — it no longer matters. Wedding date set. To our family and friends — check your mailbox very soon,” Erica, 31, wrote. “Custom made and designed by [Safaree and Trax NYC]. Fourteen [carats] in Asscher cut, Russian cut, and a cushion cut center stone diamond. Every single detail was [Safaree’s] idea. You truly are a KING [sic].”
