Papoose is finally opening up.

The Brooklyn-based rapper experienced major heartbreak when his wife — and fellow Love & Hip Hop co-star — Remy Ma recently suffered a miscarriage. But the couple leaned on each other to get themselves through the hard times, and Pap spoke out about what it was like for him during an interview on the daytime talk show, The Real.

“That was the saddest day of my life,” the 38-year-old told The Real co-host, Lonnie Love.

He said that when Remy told him that she was pregnant with their first child, he was “extremely happy” — and he even started thinking about names for their unborn baby. The couple married legally in 2008 — right before the Bronx-based hip-hop star served six years in jail for assault charges — and in December 2015, they celebrated their marriage with a lush winter wonderland-themed ceremony. The “All the Way Up” rapper promised her husband that she would give him a child shortly after their wedding.

But things quickly went south for the couple. Pap compared their pregnancy loss to a roller coaster ride, and he said he found out that they was going to lose their baby as Remy was being rushed into emergency surgery.

“So I was devastated about my child, but I was praying, ‘I hope my wife is gonna be okay,’” he said.

Remy explained that this isn’t the first time she suffered a miscarriage due to an ectopic pregnancy — which occurs when the fertilized egg remains in the fallopian tube instead of implanting in the uterus. She experienced the same situation with her first pregnancy as a teenager, and in both instances doctors had to remove her fallopian tubes, so now she will only be able to conceive via in vitro.
