Kylie Jenner Gets Hate Over $1,500 Mink Slippers After Posting About Animals Dying in Australia
In the wake of the Australian wildfires, the Kar-Jenners have pretty much all been posting to raise money and awareness. After Kylie Jenner shared that her heart was breaking for all of the animals killed in the climate disaster, however, some fans took the opportunity to call her out on what they saw as hypocrisy. On Sunday, January 5, they were quick to point out that animals also had to die for her to wear a $1,480 pair of mink fur slippers.
“Eat the rich,” one fan captioned a post as they shared screenshots of Kylie’s Instagram Story about the fires, her Story about her shoes, the slippers listed on the Louis Vuitton website and a Google images search result for minks. “F–k the rich,” a second Twitter user added in as they quote tweeted the post. “F–k the Kardashians. And f–k all y’all cryin’ about burning animals when y’all still kill, eat and wear them.”
Sharing similar screenshots, someone else wrote in Italian, “Kylie Jenner expresses her grief for the koalas who are dying in Australia with two sad emojis, and, the next day, she publishes a photo of her mink slippers [for which she] paid … $1,500 dollars.” A fourth chimed in, “Kylie Jenner really posted an Insta Story crying [about] the animals in Australia and then posted a picture of her real mink fur slides straight after … Circus time, booboo.”
Big sisters Kim and Khloé Kardashian received similar hate over claims they didn’t “donate even a penny” of their own money to fight the fires and climate change as a whole. However, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars weren’t about to take the criticism lying down. Unlike Kylie, 22, they decided to clap back over the social media site.
“Nothing gets me more heated than to see the Kardashians/Jenners talk about climate change/wildfires [and] not donate even a penny,” the Twitter user wrote. “Nothing gets me more heated than to see people think they know what we donated to and to think we have to publicize everything,” Kim, 39, responded.
Khloé, 35, also weighed in. “We often bring attention to causes and ways you can donate. It’s our job to bring awareness to situations so we all can help as a human race. We frequently post/speak about organizations/websites where we can all help save our planet,” she wrote. “Good deeds should be done with intention and not for attention. We are all blessed to be able to bless others even if it is in the slightest way. But we do not need to be boastful about that. Be boastful in regards to teaching others how they may be able to help as well.”
