Vanderpump Rules’ Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz Shut Down Divorce Rumors — But Admit Their Marriage Isn’t “Perfect”

Newlyweds Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz have had their fair share of ups and downs — as documented on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules — but when it comes to their marriage, the reality TV duo are not ready to call it quits.
The couple opened up about their relationship and shut down divorce rumors in an interview with E! News, published on Wednesday, June 28.

According to Katie, 30, speculation of a split ignited after fans recently called her out for hardly posting any photos of herself and Tom, 34, on social media. “We don’t heavily document our lives too much,” the Pucker & Pout founder told the outlet.
Added Tom, “I just like putting weird and random stuff on my social media. I didn’t even notice that. It wasn’t an indication of some sort of subconscious reflection of the status of our relationship.”
While there’s currently no trouble in paradise, whispers of a breakup made their way to the pair’s family — forcing Tom and Katie to defend their romance to their loved ones.
“We are madly in love. I feel like marriage really suits us. We’ve been through so much, especially since last summer,” said Katie, who tied the knot with Tom in a gorgeous televised wedding ceremony in August 2016. “Everyone says the first year of marriage is the hardest, but it’s been, like, 89 percent blissful.”

Tom expressed similar sentiments, joking to E! News, “We like to think that we exercised all the bad stuff. We got about 15 years worth of fighting out in about three years, so we’re good now. It’s been smooth sailing.”
However, the male model admitted that his marriage to Katie still needs work. “We’re not pretending that we’re perfect,” he said. “We have our ups and downs, but for the most part — at least relatively speaking in comparison to our earlier relationship — it’s been blissful.”
Interestingly enough, Katie said she believes that airing the good, bad, and even the ugly parts of their relationship on national television has been beneficial.

“It’s the pressure to really not run from the issues and really having to face them [that helps],” she explained. “It’s cathartic in a lot of ways. I think having us put our stuff out there on the show, we can’t leave any questions unanswered or any rock unturned. We really have to explore it and dive in, and its scary to do that. But I think because we’ve had to do that that, we’ve been able to do a lot of work on ourselves and in our relationship.”
