Three kids with three different men – damn Kate! If anyone is a pro at co-parenting, it’s Kate Hudson. The 39-year-old actress sat down with Laura Wasser for her podcast Divorce Sucks! on Monday, March 4, where she revealed some details about her coparenting skills. “As much as I would say I don’t recommend it to most, my situation is quite amazing,” she admitted.

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress dished that the key to her success in having positive relationships with her two exes, Chris Robinson and ex-fiancée Matt Bellamy, and her current partner, Danny Fujikawa,  is the ability to be self-sufficient.

“I think it’s important for a woman obviously, for me personally, I am self-sufficient,” Kate said. “I do not rely on my partners for any financial stability. I think that allowed me a little bit of freedom … to be a little bit easier for me to walk away from certain relationships and maintain a good relationship with my partners.”

The Fabletics co-founder also gave a heartwarming shoutout to her mother, Goldie Hawn, who taught her everything she knows about coparenting with an ex, due to growing up around a similar situation. Following her mother’s split from her father, Bill Hudson, she and her brother lived with Goldie and her boyfriend Kurt Russell.

“The one thing that I learned from my mom is that no matter what you’re feeling and no matter what — when I see my friends talking s–t about their ex-spouses in front of their kids, I get so upset because they don’t recognize how much that affects their child and how resentful their child will become of them,” she explained.

The mom-of-three continued to explain that kids are surprisingly smart and, at the end of the day, they will witness the good, the bad, and the ugly leading them to decide on their own how they feel about their parents. “Your child wasn’t in that relationship. Your child’s in a different relationship with their father. You need to support that relationship,” Kate gushed.

The Fools Gold star even gave credit to her past beaus for their hard work and determination to be the best dads they can be, despite their busy work schedule. Kate clearly has a thing for musicians … Matt, 40,  is the lead singer of Muse and Chris, 52, performs with the band As the Crow Flies. “Despite the two constantly being on the road a lot, they’re really present fathers,” Kate revealed.

One thing’s for sure … Ryder, 15, who she shares with Chris, and Bing, 7, who she shares with Matt, will never be able to turn a ‘no’ into a ‘yes’ from one parent to another. According to Kate, the strictness is on the same level between all of her relationships. “Matt and I, we have a great way of talking to each other about Bing and instilling the same rules in the house. We find that to be really important for Bing to feel that there’s, ‘No, you’re not going to get away with anything in each other’s house. Mommy and Daddy are on the same page.’” Sorry, Ryder, the same goes for you too. “Chris and I, we’re good. It’s kind of funny too: Ryder really can’t get away with anything,’’ Kate laughed.

As for Rani Rose, well … she’s only 5 months! In October 2018, Kate and Danny, 32, welcomed their daughter into the world. On Wednesday, October 3, the Almost Famous actress took to Instagram to announce her little girl’s arrival “We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Rob Fujikawa. Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor. Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all of the love and blessing that have been sent our way and we send ours right back.”
