Kate Gosselin’s Kids Are ‘Supportive’ of Her Dating: ‘I Have to Get It Right’
They just want the best for her. Kate Gosselin recently opened up about her new show, Kate Plus Date, and said her kids have nothing but support for her as she enters the scary world of dating again. “My kids are so supportive,” Kate, 44, told Extra. “They keep saying, ‘Do something for yourself, you’ve done everything for us.’”
Kate was nervous for the new adventure, and revealed, “I was scared to death … The last time I dated, I had a pager … To go through a really painful divorce [from ex-husband Jon Gosselin] and have that all unfold led me to just do the safe thing, which was just be me, mainly because I didn’t want my kids to have to go through that again. I have to get it right — the stakes are really high.”
Kate also explained that “Internet dating is, to me, a little creepy.” Instead, having her crew there for her dating experiences on the show made her “feel safer,” she said. In any case, Kate feels that this is the time to get back out there because “Mady and Cara are going to college and my little kids are going to high school and pretty soon I am going to be alone, just me and the dogs. It was kind of now or never.”
Previously, the former Jon and Kate Plus 8 star revealed that she felt “awkward” doing the new series. When she shared a photo of her son Joel all smiles with a cake on May 13, a fan commented, “Saw an ad today for #KatePlusDate. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for us and you!” as well as a wink emoji. The reality TV mom replied, “It’s such a fun show! I had so much fun … and felt so awkward too! I can’t wait for you to see it!!! #KatePlusDate.” Well, if she had fun and had the support of her kids, then all power to Kate for doing it!
