Kate Gosselin Says She Felt ‘So Awkward’ Filming ‘Kate Plus Date’
She’s back! Kate Gosselin makes her return to television on her new dating show Kate Plus Date, where she will go out with several men. However, the blonde beauty made it clear that not all of the dates were a romantic fairytale.
“Another one (set of braces) bites the dust! It’s cause for a GOSSELIN BRACES OFF PARTY!” the 44-year-old captioned a photo of her son Joel all smiles with a cake on Monday, May 13, on Instagram. “And now I’m down to only ONE in braces!!! Woo hoo!! #Joel #HandsomeLilGuy #LoveHim #BracesOffParty.”
One fan commented, “Saw an ad today for #KatePlusDate. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for us and you!” along with a wink emoji. The mom of eight replied, “It’s such a fun show! I had so much fun … and felt so awkward too! I can’t wait for you to see it!!! #KatePlusDate.”
However, her fans wanted Kate to know that they believed in her. One wrote, “Dating can be awkward at times. LOL. I am sure you handled it well,” while another echoed, “Looking so forward to this!!”
It’s been 10 years since Kate and her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin — who share 15-year-old sextuplets Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden and Collin along with 18-year-old twins Mady and Cara — divorced. Now, she is ready to potentially find the man of her dreams.
“Have you noticed I’ve been single for the last decade?” she said in the trailer. “I don’t even know, like, what the rules are. Like, can somebody help me out here?” The reality starlet then asks two matchmakers for some advice.
“You have a very hard shell, but it’s like once you get through that, there’s this soft amazing side,” Adam LoDolce — a dating expert — said.
The Kate Plus 8 alum goes on some fun dates — from archery to racquetball and even grape-stomping.
Of course, Mady and Cara couldn’t help but support their mom along the way. “First dates are definitely not supposed to be romantic,” Mady said. “They’re about finding out if the person’s a serial killer or not.” But the twins don’t want to know the dirty details. “Whenever she’s trying to be, like, flirty or whatever, it makes me want to throw up,” Mady confessed.
So, will she find love? “Standing here right now, I can tell you I am different than I was three months ago,” she said. “Wait ’till you see because even I can’t believe it.”
Kate Plus Date premieres on TLC June 10 at 10 p.m. ET.
