Sorry, Jon! Kate Gosselin Is Looking for a New Man With ‘Kate Plus Date’ TV Series
It looks like Kate Gosselin has gotten her groove back and she’s not afraid to share it with the world! The TV mom confirmed on April 9 that she’ll be starring in a new TLC dating series titled Kate Plus Date — an obvious riff off the Jon & Kate Plus 8 franchise which eventually became Kate Plus 8 after her messy divorce from Jon Gosselin in December 2009.
Now, with most of her children grown and her split from Jon well behind her, the 43-year-old is ready to give romance another shot. She explained to People, “I’m nervous, I’m excited, and I’m forcing myself to do this.”
Kate Plus Date won’t exactly be mimicking the style of popular dating shows like The Bachelor, but instead will be a more personal take on Kate’s journey with love — something she’s choosing to navigate on her own. Well, not entirely on her own.
The mother-of-eight explained, “If I’m going to date someone, I can’t just go out on a date — it’s creepy to me to think of just going out somewhere with some stranger, and so I actually feel like doing it like this is the best and safest way for me to go on a date — a camera crew will be there! I’ll be safe! And the person will have been vetted by a matchmaker.”
As far as the type of man Kate is looking for, she has a few ground rules, “I do want someone with a set career, who is confident. A grown-up with their own life, their own agenda, who knows who they are. If someone travels for work, that would be great, because I’m used to being on my own and being self-sufficient.”
Here’s hoping Kate finds that special someone to welcome to her family. Though, she assured that whoever she ends up with won’t be fulfilling the role of dad. Kate asserted, “It would be great for my kids to have someone they can feel like is a real friend.”
Kate Plus Date will be airing on TLC in Fall 2018.
