Jon Gosselin’s Mother Defends Him Amid Collin Abuse Allegations: He ‘Loves and Adores’ His Son
Taking a stand. Jon Gosselin’s mother, Pamela Gosselin, defended the former Jon and Kate Plus 8 star after he denied son Collin’s claims he was physically abusive.
“Jon loves and adores Collin and fought years to take care of him,” Pamela tells The Sun about their relationship on Monday, September 14. “There are no charges being pressed [against Jon] because he didn’t hit his son. Hannah witnessed Collin and Jon together that day and it’s just untrue.”
Collin reportedly claimed his dad “punched” and “kicked” him in a now-deleted Instagram post shared in early September, even calling Jon a “liar.” As a result of the alleged incident, the County of Berks, Pennsylvania Child & Youth Services notified the 16-year-old’s mother, Kate Gosselin, of an open investigation.
The Kate Plus Date alum, 45, later spoke out about the family drama on September 10, revealing she didn’t want her children around Jon, 43, anymore. “Enough is enough,” she told People. “I don’t want to hear any excuses from anyone, not from his father, not from local law enforcement, not from court personnel whose job is supposedly to ensure the best interests of my children.”
On the other hand, Pamela claims a lot of Collin’s inner turmoil stems from him being sent to a special needs institution in 2016, where he remained for three years. Kate previously defended her decision to send Collin away, while Jon claimed it wasn’t necessary in a September 2019 interview because Collin only had ADHD and “has never been diagnosed with any known medical condition.”
“I don’t blame Collin for getting out of control when he gets upset,” Pamela tells the outlet. “He is an incredibly smart teen that has to learn to live in our society after what he has been through, but it’s a process. It is fixable but it will take time. He has been through pain and we as a family have given him nonstop unconditional love.”
Pamela shared her thoughts days after the TLC personality slammed the allegations made against him by his teenage son. “Jon has never abused Collin,” a rep for the DJ told In Touch. “There’s no ongoing Children & Youth Services investigation. Collin has endured severe trauma. Jon is a loving father who has worked hard to ensure that his son gets the support and help he needs.”
