Jon Gosselin on Reality TV: “It Was the Best and Worst Decision I Made” (EXCLUSIVE)

In less than two weeks, Jon Gosselin will be celebrating his 40th birthday — and as the day quickly approaches, he’s reflecting on his life and the decisions he’s made.

In an exclusive interview with In Touch, the father-of-eight opens up about his controversial career, fame, and his plans moving forward.

“I wouldn’t be here today if I would have made different choices. Who knows who I would have met?” he tells In Touch when asked if he has any regrets about his life. “I guess doing TV was the best and worst decision I made. There is good and bad with every decision.”

While his ex-wife Kate continues to film their brood — twins Mady and Cara, 16, and sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel, and Leah, 12 — and insists they enjoy the process of filming and being on TV, Jon says he’s not sure it has had a positive impact on his children.

“I love my kids and I am happy they are financially taken care of, but who knows what the aftermath of filming or being famous will affect them as young adults [sic],” he says.

He continues, “It’s a tough battle growing up today. Is money and fame for the better or worse? These are the things I struggle with as a parent and the decisions I made for them and still have to make today, we all have to make major decisions as parents but as long as we love our children, I believe we can work in the best interest for them. Knowing what I know now, knowing how much more educated I am, with [how] much more mature I have become, I would probably change a few things.”

Today, Jon works as a DJ.

Jon says his kids are his “No. 1 priority” — followed closely by his family and his girlfriend Colleen — adding that he’s looking forward to having “a quasi-normal life” for himself.

“Although it’s hard to move forward, I have to let the past be the past,” he says. “Guess it’s my last episode in my 30s and my first episode in my 40s!”
