John David Duggar Is Engaged to Abbie Grace Burnett After One Month of Courtship
Well, that was fast! Just one month after John David Duggar announced his courtship with Abbie Grace Burnett, the former bachelor is now going to be officially off the market. John David is engaged to Abbie, and his parents announced the exciting news on Wednesday, July 25 in a post on the Duggar family blog.
“We are thrilled to announce the engagement of John-David and Abbie!” the statement read. “They are a wonderful match and make a beautiful couple! Abbie is a lovely young woman, full of tenderness and compassion. She has a deep love for the Lord and we are so delighted that John-David has asked her to be his wife! We love weddings in this family and can’t wait for this next one!”
John David and Abbie opened up about their engagement in a interivew with Us Weekly, and the couple explained that while they’ve only been courting for one month, they’ve actually known each other for years. But they didn’t realized that there was a spark between them until John David traveled to Oklahoma in June for a church event, which is where Abbie lives. That’s when they were able to spend time together and the rest is history.
“We fell in love very quickly,” John David gushed. “One of the most amazing things about following Christ is being able to trust Him to direct your path and lead your life. We are so thankful that He led us to one another.”
Since they felt such a strong connection, the couple did not waste any time taking their relationship to the next level. “The proposal and the ‘yes’ really solidified that we want to spend the rest of our lives together,” the couple revealed. “It was a special moment to share together.” Congrats to the happy couple!
