Jennifer Lopez’s High School Boyfriend David Cruz Dead After Battle With Heart Disease
Jennifer Lopez’s ex-boyfriend David Cruz died following a battle with heart disease, TMZ reports. The singer and her former beau from high school dated for 10 years before splitting in the mid-’90s.
“He was kind and loving. He never held on to anything and was always very open,” David’s partner, Isa, whom he had been with for 18 years, said in a statement. “He was a devoted father, he helped raise his stepson who is now in the Marines. He loved the Yankees and Knicks. He loved going to the theatre with me. My favorite moment was family date night because it wasn’t just special for me but for the kids as well. He always made sure to end things with an ‘I love you.'”
David started dating Jennifer, 50, when the A-lister was just 15. They broke up for good in 1994, but remained close. “He’s a friend, and he probably knows me better than anyone else,” the Grammy nominee said about David in 2004.
The “On the Floor” singer has not spoken out about the sudden death of her ex.
After dating David, Jennifer moved on with actor Wesley Snipes, whom she met on the set of Money Train. They briefly dated before she moved on with her first husband, Ojani Noa. The Bronx native was married to the Miami waiter for one year before they went their separate ways. She went on to date music exec Tommy Mottola and Diddy before getting hitched to backup dancer Cris Judd.
Her divorce was finalized in 2003, months after the Latin songstress famously moved on with Ben Affleck. They were Hollywood’s favorite couple until they broke off their engagement in 2004, but they still think of each other fondly. “She’s the real thing. I keep in touch periodically with her and have a lot of respect for her,” the actor, 47, told reporter Brooks Barnes about his ex before gushing over her movie Hustlers. “How awesome is it that she had her biggest hit movie at 50? That’s f–king baller.”
Jennifer then married Marc Anthony in 2004, and they share twins Emme and Max. They divorced in 2011. The “Booty” artist was then romantically linked to a slew of hunky guys, including Drake and Casper Smart. However, it seems that she’s found her perfect match with Alex Rodriguez. They’ve been together for two years and got engaged in 2019.
