Just three days after David Eason was spotted with a Confederate flag, his wife, Jenelle Evans, posted a photo of herself wearing one. The Teen Mom 2 star,  who is notorious for stirring up controversy, took to her Instagram Story to share a pic of her new T-shirt — and called out her haters.

“Get mad,” she wrote on the snap along with a shoulder-shrugging emoji. The T-shirt itself read “SOUTHERN PRIDE.”

On Sunday, Nov. 18, David took to his own Instagram account to share several photos (and a video) of himself with the controversial flag. The former reality star, who was fired from TM for his homophobic and transphobic remarks on the LGBTQ community, was slammed at the time for being “racist.”

@j_evans1219 how sick that you support a racist man,” one person wrote, while another added, “Classless and disgusting.” A third and fourth chimed in, “No! Why did you have to disgrace our beautiful indigenous lands by waving this flag over the native people that live in that canyon #norespect,” and “Unfollow ✔.”

According to History, “The Confederate States of America was a collection of 11 states that seceded from the United States in 1860 following the election of President Abraham Lincoln.” However, they “struggled for legitimacy and was never recognized as a sovereign nation. After suffering a crushing defeat in the Civil War, the Confederate States of America ceased to exist.”

Yet the flag continues to be “one of the most controversial symbols from US history.”

Southern Poverty Law Center states, “To many white Southerners, the flag is an emblem of regional heritage and pride. But to others, it has a starkly different meaning — representing racism, slavery, and the country’s long history of oppression of African Americans.”
