Addiction is a life-long struggle, and it seems that Tyler Baltierra‘s dad Butch has been dealing with it as long as we’ve known him. But a few days ago, the Teen Mom star had a little announcement to share with his fans and followers. As of Nov. 14, he has officially been sober for a whole year. The reality star posted the video announcing the milestone on his Instagram account, and we couldn’t be prouder of him. Last year saw the 56-year-old entering an inpatient rehab facility thanks to his son, and now that he’s graduated and started attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings, it seems he’s staying on the right path.

“I had 365 days clean yesterday,” Butch told his followers on Instagram on Nov. 15. “I didn’t post anything because I was pretty busy, but I just want to tell you it’s not all that easy, and it ain’t all that hard,” he summarized his experience. “Am I struggling? Yeah. I struggle. I struggle every day. I struggle every day that I don’t work a program or I keep in communication with my sponsor or follow direction. I struggle. Do I have obsessions? Yes, I do. Yes, I think about smoking marijuana, I think about drinking every now and then. I’m not a big drinker, but I been thinking about it. But it’s not all that easy, but I know it’s easy when you work a program… That’s all I wanted to say.”

It seems the Teen Mom OG star has really changed his life, especially with the help and support of his son. And his fans are glad to see the new him. “So proud and happy for you Butch,” wrote one Instagram user. “Your story shows that it’s never too late for a new beginning. I have lost loved ones to this disease who were only in their 20s or 30s. I pray for your continued sobriety. 🙏 Thank you for sharing your story with the world and keeping it real.” Another added, “Oh, Butch!! We are pulling for you here in this house. Me and my husband are both sober a few years now. Gets easier every day. 😊 Do work, man.”

To celebrate, he and his family even flew out to New York, spending quality time together out at dinner. We’re so glad to see that he’s doing well — and we’re sure Tyler is glad, too. Now, we’re just hope that he keeps racking up those days. At this rate, it won’t be long until he’s got two years clean under his belt, and you can bet we’ll be celebrating with the rest of the fam.
