She may not be your favorite Teen Mom star, but you have to admit that Briana DeJesus is actually a pretty amazing mom. Not only has she had to deal with a lot when it comes to her kids’ health, especially her younger daughter Stella’s heart issues, but it’s also just abundantly clear that she really loves her kids. Recently, she decided to do something a little special for her older daughter, Nova. When the 7-year-old noticed that there was something a little different about her from the other girls a gymnastics, she wanted to fit in. And though Briana, 24, wanted to encourage her to be confident as she is, she also decided that it wouldn’t be too bad just this once to let Nova get what she wants — and that meant straightening her hair. Normally, Nova’s rocking braids.

And she looks seriously adorable in them.

She wears her hair in all kinds of ways, though.

One big braid? Yes, please — and look at those baby hairs all styled up!

But when it comes to gymnastics, Nova wasn’t so sure the braids were cutting it.

All the other girls were wearing their hair a certain way, and she didn’t want to stand out.

So Briana decided they could do something about it.

“Today Nova wants to straighten her hair,” she wrote on witter. “She’s in gymnastics and comes home talking about how all the girls look the same. So today we will straighten her hair and hopefully this phase will pass again.”

Briana DeJesus Tweets About Nova Feeling Insecure

It wasn’t an easy decision to make, though.

“She came home crying the other day and I’m just so sad for her,” the mom-of-two wrote. “No reason why a 7-year-old should feel insecure about themselves, but Momma is here to make sure you will be okay!!!”

So the mom and daughter hit the hair salon.

It was time to get Nova’s hair gymnastics ready so she could match everyone else.

And it turned out sooo good!

Nova’s hair was especially sleek and shiny.

It was clear the 7-year-old was feeling herself.

The 7-year-old was clearly loving her new ‘do.

But her mom is still hoping she’ll be missing her natural hair soon.

After all, she looks just as good with the curls!

Nova’s clearly a star, no matter how she’s styling her hair. And mom Briana agrees. “Only if she knew how beautiful she truly is,” she wrote on Twitter.

A Fan Responds To Briana DeJesus About Nova's Hair

But one fan had some words of wisdom for the duo.

“My daughter went through that phase,” they shared with Briana, who liked the tweet. “She’s the only minority on the team. It’ll pass. Now, her teammates get excited when she wears her natural puff or braids!”

Now that they’ve tried a little experimentation, they’re thinking about doing even more.
