Jenelle Evans Opens up About Her Estranged Father: “Maybe One Day We Can Get to Know Each Other”

Since we first met Jenelle Evans on 16 and Pregnant, her mom, Barbara, has been a huge part of her life — but it’s left many Teen Mom 2 fans wondering where her father is.

And now, in her upcoming memoir Read Between the Lines, the mother-of-three, 25, is opening up about her estranged father and why he’s no longer part of her life.

“Robert Evans was only in my life for a little while. For that short and glorious time, I was daddy’s little girl,” she writes in her upcoming memoir, according to an excerpt obtained by E! News. “I loved and admired him. I still do in some ways. Without warning, everything changed and my dad cut himself out of my life.”

She says that after he disappeared, they didn’t speak — and remain estranged to this day, though she remains open-minded to having a relationship with him someday.

“Even now, as a grown woman, we don’t talk. Maybe one day that will change,” she says. “Maybe one day, we can find one another, get to know each other, and he can finally be my father. Until then, he is just my biological dad.”

This isn’t the first time Jenelle has addressed her rocky relationship with her father.

She blogged about their estrangement, and went into detail about how her mother kept her from her father — explaining that she didn’t know if it was the best decision at the time.

“To this day, I have no idea whether it was the best choice for me to cut ties with him like my mother tried to make me do, or if my father just didn’t want anything to do with us, or me, anymore,” she wrote at the time. “This thought is always on my mind, but until I get to speak to him it will never be answered.”

Jenelle’s memoir hits shelves on July 25.
