Jessa Duggar Insists Jana Is ‘Not In A Relationship’ After Courting Speculation
When Jana Duggar finally gave in and joined Instagram on Thursday, Jan. 10, it sparked pretty much instant courting speculation. After all, in the past, only Duggar kids in relationships had been allowed to have Instagrams. And though Jessa Duggar piped up a few months ago to say that was more of a coincidence than a rule, fans were still pretty sure that an announcement might be on its way. The fact that Lawson Bates was leaving a flirty comment on Jana’s post only stirred up more rumors. Now, however, Jessa is speaking up again to show that the rumors are just that — rumors.
In her latest post from Thursday, Jan. 10, the 26-year-old star shared a picture of Jana and Jinger Duggar‘s daughter, Felicity. “I love this pic of @janamduggar and our little niece!” she wrote. When fans popped up in the comments to share their theories about the Duggar daughter’s new social media account, she addressed them directly. “She’s not in a relationship,” she wrote, then jokingly added, “But if anyone is interested, please send all applications to me. I will check them out thoroughly.”
She also reaffirmed that it was just a coincidence that only courting and married Duggars had Instagram accounts, explaining that it was “definitely not a prerequisite,” but fans aren’t ready to accept that just yet. Then again, that might be because we all want Jana to find love — and we want it to be with someone who is worthy of her. Of course, the 28-year-old’s new Instagram wasn’t the only reason fans thought she was courting, though. The fact that she was missing from the newest Counting On promos, along with Jessa’s family, had fans suspecting that she also had a big announcement.
But Jessa seems to have debunked that theory, too. “At the last shoot, [TLC] only took updated pics of newly married couples or those who had new babies,” she wrote. “Our family hadn’t changed much since the last shoot, so they didn’t need us this time around.” Considering the fact that she and Ben Seewald just announced they are expecting their third baby, we’re not sure we buy it. For now, though, all we have is Jessa’s word.
