Jacob Roloff Reportedly Had A Tough Time Forgiving His Dad Matt After Divorce With Mom Amy
Does time heal all wounds? Jacob Roloff reportedly once blamed his father Matt Roloff for tearing apart their family and it put a major strain on their relationship. The former Little People, Big World star had a very difficult time coping when his dad and mom, Amy Roloff, divorced several years ago.
“Jacob and his dad, they don’t have the best relationship,” a source told Radar. “I think when his parents divorced he put a lot of the blame on his dad. His mom was hurting for a long time, and he believes Matt was the sole cause of that — like his dad is the one that blew up the whole family.” Despite the hard feelings, it looks like Matt, 56, and Jacob, 21, are both trying to move on. “I also know that they don’t really see eye to eye on a lot of things and there’s this tension between them, but they make it work,” the insider continued.
“They’re both slowly building on their relationship, but I did know Jacob was very angry when his parents were first going through the divorce,” the source concluded. Back in 2015, the couple shocked fans when they announced they were splitting after nearly three decades of wedded bliss, or what appeared to be on the show. “The entire concept of reality TV is strange because, as a viewer, you are subscribing to a particular illusion,” Jacob wrote in his book Out To See, seemingly addressing his family drama. “In reality you are being shown a shallow character and only what someone else approves of, in relation to narrative and talking points.”
Luckily, it appears that Matt and Jacob are in a better place today. Jacob will be tying the knot with his longtime girlfriend Isabel Rock in Sept. 2019 and his mother Amy recently threw them an epic engagement party. “So good to have Izzy’s side of the family and friends see the farm and meet all my people,” Jacob wrote at the time.
