We all know Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples, but how exactly did the two meet?

The duo can thank the producers and creators of The Voice for bringing them together. In April 2014, the blonde beauty joined Adam LevinePharrell Williams and Blake as a coach on the hit TV show. Fast forward seven months later, and the “Hollaback Girl” crooner posted her first picture with the country star on Instagram. “[Heart] him,” she wrote at the time.

However, the pair were just friends since Blake was married to Miranda Lambert at the time, and Gwen was still with her husband, Gavin Rossdale. In July 2015, Blake and Miranda called it quits after four years of marriage. “We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter,” they said in a statement.

One month later, Gwen — who shares sons Kingston, Zuma and Apollo with Gavin — and the Bush frontman decided to go their separate ways after 13 years together. “While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,” the former flames said at the time.

It was obviously easy for the California native and the “God’s Country” singer to bond over their mutual heartbreak. The costars continued to post photos with one another on social media, and in October 2015, they both appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon — where they performed Drake’s song “Hotline Bling” — and the chemistry was definitely there.

Finally, in November 2015, the Oklahoma native and the Grammy winner announced they were officially a couple, but they didn’t make their first red carpet debut until February 2016 at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty. The handsome hunk got candid about his romance in 2016. “Gwen saved my life. Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can’t even imagine the similarities in our divorces,” he admitted to Billboard magazine.

Over the years, Blake and Gwen have gone to various awards shows together, collaborated on songs and spent the holidays with one another. “I feel as if I spent the last four years healing — you know, trying to build my life again,” she told Shape magazine in October 2019. “Having a best friend like Blake to help me do that has been one of the greatest gifts.”

Their story only became even more like a fairytale when the couple announced their engagement in October 2020. “Yes, please,” the L.A.M.B. designer captioned a photo of the pair kissing along with a diamond ring emoji. Blake then took to his own Instagram and shared the joyous news. “Hey, [Gwen Stefani], thanks for saving my 2020 … And the rest of my life. I love you. I heard a YES!” he gushed.

On June 29, Blake and Gwen received their marriage license from the Johnston County District Court Clerk in Oklahoma. Oklahoma state law says Gwen and Blake will have a 10-day window to tie the knot, Their wedding must also take place in the same state as where their marriage license was obtained.

These two seem like they are in it for the long haul, and we couldn’t be more obsessed with their love.
