Before Gwyneth Paltrow was consciously uncoupling from Chris Martin, she dated other men like Brad Pitt for over two years. Even though the two are famous A-list actors, she luckily didn’t have to deal with the craziness of social media or paparazzi lingering outside of her house in the ‘90s.

Cameron Diaz and I talk about this all the time. We’re like, ‘Thank God in the early ‘90s there were [so few] paparazzi. Thank God.’ We cry in gratitude that no one was following us around and seeing what we were doing,” Gwyneth revealed in an interview with the WSJ. Magazine.

The GOOP founder continued, “I remember when Brad Pitt and I broke up, it was on the cover of the New York Post and there was no one outside my house. That would never happen today.”

Years later, the 46-year-old is happily married for the second time to a different Brad — Brad Falchuk — and says that this time it feels different. “It’s fantastic. I feel like we are probably better equipped to choose our life partner when we are halfway through life,” she confessed. “But generally, we have to pick our spouses a lot earlier because of the whole procreation piece.”

The couple wed in late September and at the time, a source told People that the “whole wedding seemed very intimate and romantic.” The Iron Man actress added, “For me it has been more of a process, and so I feel really lucky to have met this person who is an incredible, true partner.”

Gwyneth is mom to Apple, 14, and Moses, 12, with Chris, while Brad has two kids from his previous marriage. The actress admitted that she “has never been a stepmother before” and she doesn’t “know how to do it,” so they are taking it step by step when it comes to blending their families.
