Winter is coming. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was booed on stage at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 by fans who were displeased with the final season on Game of Thrones.

On Friday, July 19, the actor, 48, sat on a panel at SDCC. The crowd erupted with disagreement when Nikolaj, who played Jaime Lannister, defended his character’s conclusion with costar Lena Headey, who played Cersei Lannister. The actor called the final resolution “great” and “perfect for the character’s ending.”

Although the crowd loudly displayed their objection, Nikolaj laughed and said, “It made sense to me.” Some fans were outraged so much by the series finale that they started an online petition to remake season 8 of the beloved show. Nikolaj felt that no matter what viewers were not going to be pleased with the ending of the drama. “It comes to an end, it’s going to piss you off no matter what because it’s the end,” he said. “If you hated the ending, if you loved the ending, that’s great. Just don’t call people names.”

Many members of the cast had a similar response to the backlash from their fandom. Back in May, Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark, stated that she felt disrespected by the reaction of the viewers. “So many people worked so, so hard on [the show], and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful,” the 23-year-old told The New York Times.

Actor Kit Harington who played, Jon Snow, shared the same thoughts as his castmates but took a harsh tone in his response. “I think no matter what anyone thinks about this season — and I don’t mean to sound mean about critics here — but whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their [negative]  judgment on it, in my head they can go f–k themselves,” the 32-year-old told Esquire back in April. “Cause I know how much work was put into this.”
