Chill out, y’all! Fans were convinced Counting On matriarch, Michelle Duggar, was wearing pants over the weekend in a new pic with Jana. Turns out, it was just a really ugly skirt.

The Duggars‘ oldest daughter celebrated her 29th birthday on Jan. 12 and captioned the latest snap on her new Instagram: “I enjoyed the sweet birthday time today! So grateful for my Mom having me & helping raise me into the woman I am today! I look up to her so much and hope to be like her someday!” she gushed. “She is one that gives of herself and expects nothing in return, she’s thoughtful, creative, patient, kind, gentle, diligent, humble, serving with joy and always pointing us to Christ! Mom, you truly are the best Mom in the whole world, my best friend and I love you dearly! ❤️”

But for whatever reason, people kept mistaking Michelle’s long, denim skirt for a pair of trousers. “What is Michelle Duggar wearing pants?!!!” one person asked, while another wrote, “Omg Michelle is in pants!!!” A third, however, wasn’t fooled. “At first, I thought your mom was wearing jeans. I was thinking ‘What?! I’ve never seen her wear jeans.'”

A pants-sighting is, indeed, rare in the famous household. Back in 2013, Michelle said in an interview with TLC that there’s a reason they dress modestly. “Our interpretation [of modesty is] that from the neck down to the knee should be covered. By keeping those private areas covered, there’s not any ‘defrauding’ going on,” she explained at the time. “My kids are taught the definition of defrauding as stirring up desires that cannot be righteously fulfilled. We don’t believe in defrauding others by the way we dress.”

Unfortunately for the reality TV mama, her daughters — whom she shares with her husband, Jim Bob — have been bending the rules lately. Not only has Jinger worn pants on several occasions, but Jill and Joy-Anna have, too. Gasp! 

There was, however, that one time Shelly (can we call her that??) hit the gym in a pair of pants. So while she may not have gotten a new sighting, she’s just as guilty as her daughters when it comes to rebelling!
