If we had to recap pop culture in 2017, we'd say it was full of tumultuous breakups, shocking pregnancy announcements, embarrassing blunders, and a dancing wiener — in other words, it was basically like a romantic comedy. Think about it — all the Kardashians getting pregnant at the same time, Beyoncé blessing the world with twins, every single thing Taylor Swift did (or we made her do). Doesn't it all sort of remind you of a made-for-TV Hallmark movie? Below, eleven of the biggest moments in pop culture reimagined as rom-com posters.
Celebrities having twins has been a trend ever since Angelina popped out Vivienne and Knox. But this year there were not one but two pairs of newborns who made their triumphant debuts. If real life was a rom-com, we can imagine both Beyoncé and Amal giving birth at the same time and at the same hospital while in the middle of lots of hospital hijinks (will Jay Z make it in time to see the crowning??). What can we say, we have overactive imaginations.

The La La Land and Moonlight Oscars Mix-Up
It was a typical boring ceremony at the 2017 Oscars, but right at the end, something insane happened — the wrong movie for "Best Picture" was named. As the cast for La La Land took to the stage to accept their award, a petrified Warren Beatty tried to explain that they didn't actually win. Awkward. Honestly, words can't describe this hilarious moment. It's best you just rewatch it for yourself. But the best thing about the whole blunder? That onstage love affair between both casts. Awww.

The KarJenner Baby Boom
When Kim announced she was having a third baby via a surrogate, we were like, "K." Then a few months later when news broke that Kylie was pregnant with her boyfriend Travis Scott's baby, we lost our collective minds. We honestly didn't see that one coming. And then to make things crazier, we learned that Khloé was also pregnant. Honestly, we didn't have to do much work here. The entire thing already sounds like the plot of a rom-com movie.

Kendall Jenner's Pepsi Commercial Controversy
We had a hard time finding a "romance" angle for a story about an insensitive commercial that tried to make light of political protests, racism, and police brutality. In the end, our poster came out looking more like a limited release indie film than a rom-com, but hey, at least you get the idea.

Jinger Duggar Wore Pants
If you don't follow the Duggar family (bless your soul), you're probably wondering why this was news. Well, the Duggars are very strictly religious and the women aren't allowed to wear pants. However, when Jinger married Jeremy Vuolo earlier this year, she emerged on Instagram showing off her newfound freedom from ugly floor-length skirts. We waited so long for this day. Run, Jinger! Never look back!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Engagement
Although rumors had been spreading about them for months, when Prince Harry and Meghan officially announced they were getting married, the Intenet imploded. Many critics chastized Meghan for not being British or a royal, but we doubt she cares what basement dwellers are saying when she gets to kick it up at the palace. Lucky. Can someone say Hallmark movie?

Fyre Music Festival Disaster
When Ja Rule promised the Bahamas music festival he co-founded to be "luxurious" and full of models and exquisite food, the people who showed up expecting to dance alongside Bella Hadid got a rude awakening. Instead of swanky sleeping quarters, they were met with FEMA tents, trash, and cheese slices on bread. Although we were able to find the romance in the story, for the actual people who were there, it was probably more like a horror movie.

Taylor Swift's Slithering Comeback
When the 28-year-old pop star was chased off the Internet by an onslaught of snake emojis (thanks, Kim Kardashian), she took a much-needed social media break. When she returned she was darker, edgier, and had embraced her inner "snake." She then dropped a single that took aim at Kanye West, his wife, and all her other enemies. Sure, it wasn't really all that different from her previous victim complex narrative, but hey, at least Reputation had a lot of bops.

Selena Gomez Dumps the Weekend for Justin Bieber
Selena shocked everyone when she announced she was dating The Weeknd in early 2017, and although everyone thought it was a publicity stunt, they remained together for most of the year. And then, like an antagonist straight out of a movie, Justin strutted back into the picture. Selena just couldn't resist him. Soon after being spotted with her ex, news broke that she split from The Weeknd. This is one story that has "rom-com" stamped all over it.

Snapchat Dancing Hotdog
The summer of 2017 was taken over by a tiny dancing hotdog who appeared in literally everyone's Snapchat videos. So, of course, we imagined him starring in a rom-com alongside Katherine Heigl because why not? Move over, Matthew McConaughey.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt Split
When the cheeky couple announced their separation on social media, the Internet had a collective meltdown. If Anna and Chris can't make their love work, can anyone? Hey, not all rom-coms have happy endings.
