Oh how the mighty have fallen! Derick Dillard has been on what feels like a non-stop Twitter rant for the last few months, but on May 25, his Twitter was no longer open for business… to the public, at least. The former Counting On star made his account private, so fans can no longer see what he posts unless he accepts their follow requests.

It is unclear why Derick, who has never shied away from an e-confrontation, would suddenly choose to hide his tweets, but there are a few possible reasons. First of all, his tweets about fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings got his whole family fired from Counting On. Perhaps that lack of income is hurting them and he's hoping that by cleaning up his act, they'll get back on. Then there's the fact that Jill recently revealed that Derick is working again. It's possible that keeping your social media free of controversy or private is a requirement for that job.

Derick may also have hidden his profile because it seems to have caused some tension in the family. First, brother-in-law Ben Seewald and the Bates clan unfollowed him, then his brother-in-law Jeremy Vuolo retweeted a meme mocking people who get into arguments on Twitter. Of course, his wife Jill could be at the root of the decision, as she's recently been posting quotes on Instagram about acceptance and not being hateful.

It definitely seems odd that after everything he has been publicly tweeting, now is the time he decides he's had enough of the backlash. He's complained about everything from TLC to gay couples to gun control to the Parkland shooting victims to transgender people, and every single time people have freaked out. He's engaged in back-and-forth fights with randos, and never backs down or deletes anything or apologizes. Something tells us that if it was up to him, his account would still be public.
