Demi Lovato Rings In The New Year With Sparkling Cider Following Near-Fatal Overdose
Demi Lovato celebrated the start of a new year with sparkling cider, five months after her near-fatal overdose. The “Heart Attack” songstress took to her Instagram Story on Monday, Dec. 31, to share a pic of the non-alcoholic beverage.
“#Sobriety,” she captioned a photo of a bottle of Martinelli’s.
That same day, the Grammy-nominated star thanked her friends and fans for their continued support. “So grateful for the lessons I’ve learned this year,” Demi wrote in a separate Instagram Story. “I will never take another day in life for granted, even the bad ones. Thankful for my fans, friends, family, and everyone who supported me throughout this year. God bless.”
The 26-year-old was hospitalized for a near-fatal overdose that took place at her Hollywood Hills home back in July, but after completing her rehabilitation stint in November, she’s seemingly made a complete turnaround.
In a recent Twitter post, Demi opened up about how she’s feeling amid her recovery process. “I’m so blessed I get to take this time to be with family, relax, work on my mind, body, and soul and come back when I’m ready,” she wrote. “I have my fans to thank for that.”
I’m so blessed I get to take this time to be with family, relax, work on my mind, body and soul and come back when I’m ready. I have my fans to thank for that. I’m so grateful, truly. I love you guys so fucking much 💗 thank you 🙏🏼

Demi’s mother also broke her silence about the singer’s health during a candid interview. “I didn’t know what she was doing…because she doesn’t live with me. She’s 26,” Dianna de la Garza said about Demi on Maria Menounos‘ podcast in October. “I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction [is] a disease — it’s work. It’s not easy. There are no shortcuts.”
Luckily, Demi was able to spend the holidays with her loved ones, which we’re sure Dianna is grateful for. The star took to social media with adorable photos of her family celebrating Christmas together, while showing off her brightly lit tree. We can only hope that Demi will continue to heal in 2019!
