’90 Day Fiancé’ Stars David and Annie Are so Broke That They’re Pawning Jewelry
The American dream is quickly turning into a nightmare for 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After stars David Toborowsky and Annie Suwan. The couple is still on shaky ground when it comes to finances, and now the stress is taking a toll on their marriage.
The newlyweds — who recently shot down pregnancy rumors — had been relying on David's friend Chris to get by as he was loaning them money, but in a clip from the upcoming season, David, 49, revealed that, "Chris has cut me off financially at his wife's request. I find that it's really hard because I wasn't prepared for that." To try and make some quick cash, Annie, 25, agreed to pawn some of her jewelry, even though she wasn't happy about it. "The married life is really hard," she admitted. "I hate that we have to pawn my jewelry, but David doesn't have a job yet and we don't have money."
Luckily, the pair has a place to live, as Chris had allowed them to set up shop in a firehouse he owns. "Although the firehouse is growing on us and it's cozy and it's comfortable, it's not what we aspire to live in," Chris said, while Annie, who is from Thailand, gushed, "I can't wait to get a job and have a nice home!"
However, Chris suddenly decided to start charging them rent at $1,000 per month — a cost that David isn't sure he and Annie will be able to afford. "I used to think that if my back was up against the wall and we were in dire straits, Chris would help me if I really needed it," he explained. "I don't feel that way right now."
Aside from money troubles, the twosome have also struggled to bond with the rest of the family. While David was working to repair the relationship with his children, the possibility of being in each other's lives becomes threatened by the fact that Annie and his kids don't get along. "I'm watching my dad self-destruct," David's daughter says in a trailer for the new season, while Annie confesses, "Before I came here, I just [thought] American life [would] be better." It looks like the couple have a lot to work through — then again, the show has been accused of making up fake storylines…
