Counting On Unexpected Recap: All the Weird Things You Missed

This episode of Counting On is brought to you by more baby announcements and five adorable little girls held hostage…by music! The hilariously titled “Unexpected” is almost everything but: we got Jinger and Jeremy “surprising” the Vuolos with a pair of tiny Converses, Joy-Anna and Austin filling in with the obligatory house-flipping plotline, Joseph and Kendra having an ultrasound. That is…exactly what I expect from a Counting On episode, and I’m only two episodes deep when it comes to recapping.

There was one unexpected treat, and that came way of the Duggarettes little girl band. Yes, in their latest act of sometimes being parents, Jim Bob and Michelle put the little girls together into their own Christian rock band. Like, Johannah and Jordyn aren’t going full Creed or anything, but with songs like “Faith the Size of Mustard Seed,” it is definitively a lot.

Actually, faith being the size of a mustard seed is a very little amount of faith, but if you were raised on that compound, it’s amazing to have even that much left.

Duggar baby announcements (which, ugh, we’re still going to be treated to next episodes) have become so commonplace that even Michelle has a hard time keeping herself saccharine. Like, it’s their first grandchild and they’re so pleased about it, it’s a special moment and not just a novelty that’ll keep the family business afloat.
