Sorry not sorry! Cardi B and Nicki Minaj‘s beef seems to have settled down, but even though they may have been able to forgive, it doesn’t look like they’re ready to forget just yet. During an appearance at the Swisher Sweets Awards red carpet on Friday, April 12, the 26-year-old was asked whether she would ever do a collab with Nicki, 36, and she had the funniest response.
“Is there ever a chance that you and Nicki would make up and perform together,” Variety‘s Marc Malkin asked. Cardi just looked at Malkin and smiled silently. In order to break the awkward pause, Malkin just said “Okurrr” — Cardi’s signature catchphrase. In response, Cardi just started laughing in a slightly maniacal way before she was dismissed from the interview.
The “I Like It” rapper and Nicki’s feud goes back to 2017 when they collaborated with each other on “Motorsport,” featuring Migos — the rap group that Cardi’s husband, Offset, belongs to. During a November 2017 interview with Capital XTRA, Cardi hinted that Nicki rerecorded her verse for the song.
But things came to a head in September 2018 when they crossed paths with each other at the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party during NYFW. Cardi confronted the “Chun-Li” rapper at the event, and an alleged altercation broke out between the ladies, and it ended as Cardi was being escorted out of the event with a big knot on the side of her face.
“Cardi came in swearing and shouting,” an insider told Us Weekly at the time. “Nicki just stood there and was cool. She did not flinch. Cardi was throwing punches, trying to get at Nicki and then threw her shoe at Nicki.”
After the alleged altercation, the ladies continued to take jabs at each other on social media. But it seemed like things have since cooled down between the ladies since then, even though it doesn’t look like they’ll be friends any time soon.
