Cardi B thought she was doing the right thing when she turned herself in to the NYPD on Monday, Oct. 1 after allegedly being involved in a strip club altercation. Now, however, the rapper fears she may face jail time. The new mom — who gave birth to her daughter, Kulture Kiari on July 10 — is reportedly “devastated” that she may be taken away from her baby girl.

“Cardi is confident she’ll beat these charges and be proven innocent, but it’s still really scary that jail could be on the table,” a source close to the star told Hollywood Life. “The thought of that is really terrifying for her, especially because it would mean she’d be separated from her baby girl, which would be heartbreaking.” They added, “Cardi can’t stand to spend even one night away from Kulture so the idea of being behind bars, away from Kulture is enough to make her cry. It’s devastating.”

Cardi reportedly ordered an attack against the employees at Angels Strip Club in Queens on Aug. 29 after claiming one of the girls had slept with her husband, rapper Offset. The 25-year-old was allegedly watching Offset perform at the club with rap trio Migos when she confronted the bartenders, sisters Jade and Baddie Gi.

“It was an altercation that happened in the club where she was involved throwing chairs at bartenders,” NYPD’s Cadet Serrata told Radar Online. “At the moment, we are not sure if she threw them herself, but we know she was with a group of people that were throwing chairs.”

Cardi has reportedly been charged with two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of assault. If convicted, she could face up to one year in jail.
