Fans are voicing their concerns online for Joy-Anna Duggar after some accused her husband, Austin Forsyth, of being abusive. On Tuesday, April 3, @crazykak took to reddit and wrote, "I think Austin is a creep. I really think he is at the very least emotionally abusive. He seems super controlling and Joy just looks to him for answers to everything. She is so used to obeying her parents without question, and being so young and brainwashed makes her so vulnerable to domestic abuse. She was so indecisive with wedding details and seems like a really naive little girl. Austin just gives off dark vibes to me on the YouTube clips — thoughts?"

Immediately, others began responding to the thread, with many agreeing. "He's a 100% in the right place to be at least emotionally abusive since Joy does not have a mind of her own and always looks to him whenever they are asked a question. Plus she's only 20 and a lot less knowledgeable (and she acts it too) than he is." Another added, "I can see him being abusive to his Gideon and the rest of his future kids for sure because of the Pearl tips. :(" Michael and Debi Pearl have been at the center of controversy since publishing their book To Train Up a Child — Child Training for the 21st Century, in which they encourage the use of corporal punishment to teach children of all ages how to behave.

Others, however, weren't so convinced. "I think he's a very serious and cold person, which can give off the wrong impression initially. I personally don't believe he would ever hit Joy (although he does believe in the Pearl training method, which is a type of physical abuse), but I definitely can see him belittling/talking down to her if he gets annoyed or she does something he doesn't like." A second chimed in, "No I don't, I think he's just very guarded as he hasn't been around the cameras for anywhere near as long as the Duggars so isn't comfortable and hasn't let his guard down yet. When Joy walked down the aisle and he got choked up, that was pure emotion, very genuine."

Joy-Anna gave birth to their son, Gideon Martyn, on Feb. 23 via emergency C-section after their midwife discovered he was breech. "I decided to have a home birth, just because I know that it's more comfortable being at home," Joy explained. "I really wanted to at least try it, and we're only about 30 minutes from the hospital, so it's not too bad in case of an emergency or a change of plans. [I'm feeling] somewhat nervous, trying not to be scared, but just prepared. I know that it's going to painful, there's going to be a lot of emotions, but I know Austin is going to be there to support me."
