Angelina Jolie Set to Reunite With Son Maddox in Japan: ‘I Am 2 Days From My Hug’
Happy day! Angelina Jolie revealed she will be reuniting with her oldest son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, in just a few days — a little over one month after the actress dropped him off at college in South Korea. “He’s good,” the 44-year-old told Extra on Monday, September 30, at the premiere of her latest movie, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, in Los Angeles. “But he’s flying to meet me in Japan. So, I am two days from my hug.” However, the brunette beauty explained that while he is doing well, she is missing having her 18-year-old son around. “He’s great,” she gushed. “I know he is solid. He’s fine, but I need [the hug].”
Angie brought five out of her six kids — Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and twins Vivienne and Knox, both 11 — to the event, and it looked like she was having a blast with her brood as she posed with them on the red carpet. Even though Maddox was not in attendance, it seemed like his siblings were in a great mood.
On August 21, the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider star dropped off Maddox at Yonsei University in Incheon, South Korea. “Maddox is leaving the tight-knit family nest and while there have been some tears, he’s super excited about starting this new journey,” a source exclusively told In Touch. “He told his siblings that they have to listen to Pax now, which they all laughed at. Pax probably took it the hardest, but he’s tough and doesn’t cry, all the other kids got teary-eyed. They’re all going to miss their oldest brother, who’s always been kind and a very calming presence, even when he was little.”
Ultimately, the California native is thrilled for Maddox’s next endeavor. “She’s so proud of Maddox,” the source added. “She initially thought he might want to stay in Los Angeles and get into movies and animation. Angie laid out a path for Maddox and a love of Asia, but she never thought he’d continue his studies in South Korea, let alone go to college there and study biochemistry. She couldn’t be more proud of him.”
But there was one person noticeably missing from Angie’s trip to Asia — her ex-husband Brad Pitt. In a video interview exclusively obtained by In Touch, the cameraman asked the college freshman if his famous father, 55, would be appearing on campus in the near future. “Um, I don’t know about that … what’s happening,” he said. “Whatever happens, happens.”
Well, at least Angie and Maddox’s bond is super strong!
