Pregnant ‘Teen Mom OG’ Star Amber Portwood Reveals She Has Gestational Diabetes
ICYMI, Amber Portwood is expecting her second child with boyfriend Andrew Glennon — an announcement that shocked Teen Mom fans — but now she’s opening up about her pregnancy complications. The reality star’s second go at parenthood seemed to have been a breeze up until now, but in a new sneak peek for the show, the 27-year-old revealed she has gestational diabetes.
“My morning sickness has been getting worse, so I went to the doctor and found out I have gestational diabetes,” Amber said. “I feel like I could just like go to sleep right now,” she told Andrew. “I need to eat some fruit or something. Maybe my sugar’s just low.”
Immediately, Andrew gave her a fruit cup and said, “I’m gonna look up some diabetes diets right now for you.” Such a good boyfriend!
Luckily, Amber caught the condition early, but she’s still frustrated. “I can’t really enjoy my pregnancy as much,” she continued in the clip, adding that she’s “always feeling tired, always feeling useless.” She concluded, “This pregnancy — I don’t know if it’s because I’m older — has definitely been a lot more rough.”
Many people didn’t even know Amber and her ex-fiancé, Matt Baier, split before revealing she was pregnant. However, it seems like she’s learned a few lessons from their tumultuous relationship — like keeping her finances “completely separate” from the man she’s dating. “With Matt, we had joint accounts, businesses together, things like that, and I’ve learned my lesson,” she recently told Us Weekly. “My money is my money, and when we’re together, we can help each other and be there for each other and take care of this child. But you know, Andrew is really good at knowing that we both have boundaries in certain things.”
As for a ring? Amber was reportedly hoping to get engaged before her baby’s due date. “If Amber and Andrew are engaged then they are both keeping quiet about it. There’s no doubt though that she would love Andrew to propose,” an insider told Hollywood Life. “Amber’s crazy about him, she would love to make things official before the baby arrives.” Only time will tell!
