Leah Messer’s Daughter Aleeah Thinks She’s to Blame for Her Twin Sister’s Muscular Dystrophy
On Monday night’s heartbreaking episode of Teen Mom 2, Leah Messer‘s daughter, Aleeah Simms, questioned the cause of her sister’s genetic condition — and ultimately blamed herself for it. Over the years, the mother-of-three and her ex-husband Corey Simms have tried their best to explain twin sister Ali’s muscular dystrophy diagnosis to the seven-year-old, but it’s understandably difficult to comprehend.
“Is it because I crammed her up? Because I squished her?” she asked, while implying that she could have been responsible for her sibling’s condition while they were in their mother’s womb. Leah quickly stressed that this wasn’t the case, but rather a “gene mutated.” She added, “It had nothing to do with you.” When Aleeah chimed in that she didn’t understand what her mother was referring to, Leah explained, “You’ll learn when you get older, but it’s not your fault.”
Recently, the reality star mama sparked pregnancy rumors on Instagram after she posted a photo of herself wearing a flowy top with the caption, “Never stop believing in HOPE, miracles happen every day!” One needy fan wrote, “Are you pregnant? You need to tell your fans. Don’t keep us guessing, please.” Well, at least they said, “please.” Another simply added, “Are you pregnant again?”
Last week, the 25-year-old bravely opened up about her battle with depression — something fans were shocked to learn. On a recent episode, she dropped the bombshell that she used to have suicidal thoughts and didn’t know her worth. She admittedly didn’t have the best childhood experience and explained how her poor relationship with her father contributed to her depression.
“My childhood wasn’t the best and then I had my own kids and it was like, ‘I’m responsible for not just one, but two little ones.’ I didn’t know what I was doing you guys,’ she said about her twin girls. It was when she lost custody of her twin daughters, divorced her second husband, and was accused of abusing drugs that she hit “rock bottom.” Watch the video below to find out how she’s doing now.
Teen Mom 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
