Talk show host Wendy Williams has filed for divorce from her husband, Kevin Hunter, a source confirmed to In Touch and he was reportedly served the papers on Thursday, April 11. Kevin is respecting her decision, but another insider tells us that he didn’t want to call it quits.

Even so, Wendy is doing her best to keep things cordial in the wake of their breakup. “The divorce won’t be messy,” the insider revealed to In Touch. “Wendy is willing to split everything. She knows she’ll be able to make money forever. He didn’t want to get divorced, she had to force his hand.”

Fans have been speculating there’s been trouble in paradise with the couple for some time, especially considering the swirling rumors that Kevin, 46, was allegedly cheating on the talk show host, 54, with his supposed mistress Sharina Hudson. Furthermore, Wendy has been spotted on a few occasions without her dazzling wedding ring — and it was notably missing on today’s show.

However, Wendy did previously address the split rumors in early March. “I want to shout out to my husband. I’m still wearing my ring,” she said on The Wendy Williams Show. “Believe me you, when you’ve been with somebody for 28 years … married for 25 years … we know each other. He’s my best friend, he’s my lover, he’s all this and he’s all that. I know what you’ve been seeing and I know what the streets have been talking about.”

Meanwhile, the host recently returned to her show after a two-month hiatus and revealed that she had been living in a sober home and is battling substance addiction. Kevin later did an interview and said they’re working through it as a family. “We are moving forward with working on her sobriety and doing the work to help others, not just ourselves,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

Kevin and Wendy tied the knot in 1997 and they share one child together, a son named Kevin Jr. This split will obviously be an adjustment for all of them, but it looks like Wendy is confident that she’s doing what’s best.

“Thank you to everyone for respecting the family’s privacy during this time,” the personal representative for Wendy Williams tells In Touch in a statement. “Kevin is supportive of Wendy and they are working through this process together.”
