Girl power? On April 2, Stephanie Shepherd went off on Instagram about “internalized misogyny,” which she defines as women “tearing each other down.”  Steph went onto explain that it’s actually “something we prefer to avoid addressing because we spend all day preaching ‘girl power’ and ‘female empowerment’ yet we STILL constantly tear each other down, with the socially programmed and unconscious belief that there’s only enough room for a few of us to succeed and live a fulfilled life on our own terms.” Mhmm, is she indirectly speaking about when her boss, Kim Kardashian, kicked her to the curb?

RP @florencegiven ✨ Internalized misogyny is the silent killer of the movement. It’s something we prefer to avoid addressing because we spend all day preaching ‘girl power’ and ‘female empowerment’ yet we STILL constantly tear each other down, with the socially programmed and unconscious belief that there’s only enough room for a few of us to succeed and live a fulfilled life on our own terms. • So when we do see a woman rising, in an area that we do not, we do not see her glory. We do not see ‘her’ at all. We see our insecurities reflected back to us. We LIVE in a sexist society, we are going to internalize it. We have been socialized to believe one woman’s success is OUR failure. • There is enough room for all women to be whole, and to fulfill our own purpose whatever we desire it to be, without ripping apart another woman to get there. We are all on a journey of dismantling and unpacking the bias bestowed upon us from the white supremacist patriarchy – but it’s important we must remember to practice empathy with one another where we can, to keep this movement along! 👏🏼

Steph started working for the 38-year-old in 2013, where she started off as a personal assistant around the time when North West was born. The brunette beauty was the mastermind behind all of Kim’s glamorous vacations, appearances, outfits and much more. The two created a personal relationship as well, Steph attended Kar-Jenner birthday parties, family trips and everything else we wish we could be invited to. In 2016, Steph was promoted to COO of Kim Kardashian West brands, including KKW beauty, KKW fragrances, and Kids Supply. However, things took a weird turn in 2017, when Steph confided in Kourtney Kardashian (who she happens to be BFFs with) that she felt “unfulfilled job-wise,” and wanted to take on a bigger role … which we got to see on an episode of KUWTK. The mom-of-three felt that Steph confessing her feelings to her big sis was completely unprofessional, which led her to let Steph go.

So, is it possible that Steph’s IG post relates to her own career story? The influencer continued to harp on the topic in her post “There is enough room for all women to be whole, and to fulfill our own purpose whatever we desire it to be, without ripping apart another woman to get there. We are all on a journey of dismantling and unpacking the bias bestowed upon us from the white supremacist patriarchy — but it’s important we must remember to practice empathy with one another where we can, to keep this movement along!”

Honestly, it seems like Steph is doing just fine in Hollywood — without being an employee of the Kardashian empire. In March 2018, she partnered with the jewelry brand 8 Other Reasons, where she was the face for their “Woman” collection, a campaign that was inspired by the movement around women empowerment. The model also currently has 1.3M followers on IG, which proves she is basically killing it out there on her own!
