There are two things that Tyler Henry is especially good at — connecting people with their late family and friends, and bringing those people to tears! He proved once again that he has a natural knack for making people emotional in the latest clip of his hit reality series, Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry. In the clip, the 21-year-old medium connects Shameless star Shanola Hampton with her late mother. Check out the video to see the emotional reunion!
The reality star has been honing his gift since childhood — but he first knew he had the gift when his grandmother was sick. He said that he simply woke up one day and knew it was time for he and his family to say their farewells; shortly after waking his parents and convincing them they had to say goodbye to his beloved grandmother, the family got the call that she passed away. From there, he honed his skill through “a process of repetition and practice.” He explained to Out, “The more I did readings and the more I started interacting with people and sharing what I was seeing, the more I understood the process, what it was life, and what it was like to experience. The more comfortable I got in my ability, the better, more specific, and more elaborate the messages [got].”
To prepare for a reading, he said he meditates to prepare for the meeting he’s about to have; often times, he explained, he already knows the person he’s going to connect with before the person even sits down for their reading or brings their object. From there, it can become incredibly emotional.
“A reading is a huge experience for me, it really immerses so many different senses. Primarily, I’m a clairvoyant so I receive information visually, but I also pick up on physical sensations,” he explained. “In the show, there’s many points where I probably look a little rough, because I’m overwhelmed and these readings take so much out of me. In a reading, I’m picking up on physical sensations as well as mental and visual impressions.”
Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. EST on E!
