Royal Family Pays Tribute to Queen Elizabeth After Her Death: Read Moving Statements

“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” a statement from King Charles III, shared via the royal family’s official Instagram page, read. “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

“During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held,” the message continued.

Prince and Princess of Wales

“On Thursday, the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth was absolute. So much will be said in the days ahead about the meaning of her historic reign,” the couple said in a statement via their joint Instagram account on Saturday, September 10.

“I, however, have lost a grandmother. And while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful. I have had the benefit of The Queen’s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade,” William continued.

The Prince of Wales continued: “She was by my side at the happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.”

“My grandmother famously said that grief is the price we pay for love,” he added. “All the sadness we will feel in the coming weeks will be testament to the love we felt for our extraordinary Queen.”

Duke and Duchess of Sussex

The late monarch’s grandson Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II through their foundation, Archewell. 

“In Loving Memory of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” the foundation’s website read, with the years 1926 and 2022 written below.

The queen’s great-grandson Prince Louis of Wales reportedly told his mother, “At least Grannie is with Great-Grandpa now,” according to royals editor Roya Nikkah from The Times, who noted that Kate revealed this while speaking to children outside of Windsor Castle on September 10. The young prince’s great-grandfather, Prince Philip, died in April 2021.

“It’s a lonely place up there now without her,” Prince Harry said to a group of people outside of Windsor Castle on Saturday, September 10, according to a video published by The Sun. “Whichever room she was in, you felt her presence throughout.”

Princess Anne

The Princess Royal broke her silence about her mother’s death on Tuesday, September 13, after she accompanied the queen’s funeral cortege on its first leg from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh’s St. Giles’ Cathedral, a task for which her mother personally selected her only daughter.

“I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest mother’s life. It has been an honor and a privilege to accompany her on her final journeys. Witnessing the love and respect shown by so many on these journeys has been both humbling and uplifting,” Anne wrote in a statement posted to Instagram. She continued, “We will all share unique memories. I offer my thanks to each and every one who share our sense of loss.”

“We may have been reminded how much of her presence and contribution to our national identity we took for granted. I am also so grateful for the support and understanding offered to my dear brother Charles as he accepts the added responsibilities of The Monarch,” Anne concluded about her elder brother, who is now King Charles III, while adding, “To my mother, The Queen, thank you.”

Princess Beatrice and Husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

Princess Beatrice was incredibly close to her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. She and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, shared a 16-verse original poem via Instagram on September 16 that thanked and paid tribute to the late monarch. It was written by Edo’s half-brother.

“Your Majesty, thank you. Thank you to my wonderful brother Alby Shale for writing this for Beatrice, and thank you for allowing us to share it. Thank you,” Edo wrote in the caption.
The poem began, “‘Thank you for guiding for 70 years. Thank you for guiding with values not spears. Thank you for guiding your whole adult life. Thank you for guiding with dignity not strife.” It later thanked the queen for “leading us till death do us part,” and for “leading with an honorable heart.”

Sarah Ferguson

“I am heartbroken by the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy: the most fantastic example of duty and service and steadfastness, and a constant steadying presence as our head of state for more than 70 years,” Sarah, who was once married to the Queen’s son Prince Andrew, shared in an Instagram statement on Friday, September 9. “She has given her whole life selflessly to the people of the U.K. and the Commonwealth.”

Sarah continued: “To me, she was the most incredible mother-in-law and friend. I will always be grateful to her for the generosity she showed me in remaining close to me even after my divorce. I will miss her more than words can express.”
