Looking good, ma! Remy Ma opened up exclusively to In Touch about her recent weight loss, and revealed the lifestyle change that led to her best body ever. According to the 37-year-old rapper, her slimmer physique is the result of saying buh-bye to meat and sugar.

“I recently decided to stop eating meat. I didn’t eat pork already, but I cut out chicken, turkey, and I cut out the beef,” the chart-topping MC told In Touch. “I think the major, major thing was [cutting out] the soda and really sugary drinks.”

By simply swapping out meat for fruits and veggies, and adding in consistent exercise, Remy said she’s never felt better. “I drink a lot of water and try to get at least 30 minutes of cardio a day. I won’t say ‘diet.’ I had to get that word out of my vocabulary,” she said, adding that her old eating habits often led to overindulging. “When you eat too much rice or something, you just feel horrible after — like, ‘Oh God, now I might as well just eat everything!’”

These days, it’s all about portion control for the hip-hop icon. “It’s a life change, and now if I have a bit too much macaroni and cheese, then I don’t feel bad,” Remy explained. “It’s just like, ‘Hey, it’s just mac and cheese.’ It’s not like I ate a cheeseburger like I really wanted to do!”

During her chat with In Touch, the Love and Hip Hop: New York star also dished on her upcoming holiday special with her husband, Papoose. The adorable duo will celebrate the season in Remy & Papoose: A Merry Mackie Holiday, which airs on VH1 Monday, Dec. 18, at 9 p.m. EST. Remy and Pap, who share two kids, daughter Dejanae and son Jayson (both from previous relationships), couldn’t be more thrilled to let fans in on their Christmas festivities.

“People get to see us on Love & Hip Hop, but they don’t really get to see just me and my husband and our family — the Mackies — in our element,” Remy said. “…It’s kind of cool, too, because we’ve been relocating [from NYC] to North Carolina, so we can prepare for the children we plan on having. I opened a store there. I have a new house there. It’s like our first time ever getting the whole family together and having everyone — sometimes one person is away or someone is sick — there’s usually one person missing. You guys will get to see how we celebrate our holidays.”
