When she watched the show back, she cringed — so now Real Housewives of New York star Ramona Singer is apologizing for what she had to say about Bethenny Frankel‘s late boyfriend, Dennis Shields. Before the episode aired on Wednesday, March 20, the star took to Twitter and Instagram to make amends. Though it wasn’t clear exactly what she was talking about at the time, fans knew about at least one of her comments from a teaser for the episode. “How smart can Dennis be? I mean, he was on drugs,” Ramona asked one of her costars.

“I cringed when I saw what I said about Dennis in tonight’s episode,” the star, 62, shared on Twitter and her Instagram Story. “It definitely wasn’t one of my finer moments. I respected and liked him very much and I sincerely apologize to his family and Bethenny for my thoughtless comments.” But fans weren’t necessarily having it. In the replies, they called the Real Housewives celeb out for a pattern of bad behavior.

“Apologies are getting really old,” wrote one as another added, “Oh, please … Ramona always gets her digs in first, then the BS apologies‼️ She’s only doing this now [because] she was about to get dragged by the entire audience for her selfish comments‼️” So far this season, Bethenny has been open about the heartbreak she’s been going through since her boyfriend passed away in August 2018. The couple dated on and off for years, but their relationship wasn’t exactly casual. In one clip, she even admitted that he wasn’t really her boyfriend at all — he was secretly her fiancé.

“He proposed on April 25th,” she revealed to Dorinda Medley. “I didn’t tell anybody that,” she admitted. “I kept it to myself because I didn’t want another circus of my life so I didn’t want to start telling people, but we had our own private engagement and our own private, like, ‘Oh my god, we’re gonna do this.’ … He bought Bryn a ring, too.”

Though Bethenny hasn’t publicly spoken out about Ramona’s comments or her apology, she did like a Tweet that hinted at her feelings on the subject. “You can’t forgive her!” one fan told 48-year-old Skinnygirl CEO. “That was crossing the line! She meant what she said. She couldn’t wait to find something hurtful to say to you. She’s a snake and a washed up miserable old woman.”
