Miley Cyrus Releases Powerful Statement After Groping Incident: ‘Don’t F–k With My Freedom’
Don’t mess with Miley Cyrus. The pop star is taking a stand after she was unwillingly groped and kissed by a man in Barcelona alongside her husband, Liam Hemsworth.
“She can be wearing what she wants. She can be a virgin. She can be sleeping with 5 different people,” the “Can’t Stop” songstress, 26, began a series of Instagram Stories on Tuesday, June 4. “She can be with her husband. She can be with her girlfriend. She can be naked.”
“She CAN’T be grabbed without her consent,” Cyrus added with the hashtag “#DontF–kWithMyFreedom,” which are lyrics from her new song “Mother’s Daughter.”
As In Touch previously reported, the couple was making their way through a crowd when someone suddenly grabbed the actress and kissed her. She got visibly uncomfortable and moved under her husband’s arm after the incident.
The the clip was blasted around social media, and fans immediately began rallying around her in support. “I’m completely disgusted by this,” someone fumed. “SOME ‘FANS’ (a.k.a. creepy as hell dudes) SHOULD KNOW WHAT PERSONAL SPACE MEANS!” they wrote. “You should RESPECT her. Who even allowed y’all to touch her and to kiss her like that? She got scared! Poor angel. I hope she’s okay after this situation, I’m scared to imagine what would happen if Liam wasn’t with her. Security should work harder!!!!”
Others, however, actually blamed her for the attack. “Well, what do you expect when they dress like whores and I like some of her songs,” one person wrote in a comment that Miley posted to her Story. Ugh. Another added, “You wanted to be ‘sexy,’ what do you expect?”
Miley was in Barcelona to perform songs off her new EP, “She Is Coming,” at the Primavera Sound Festival. Although security was with the singer when the incident occurred, that still didn’t stop the stranger from grabbing at Miley as she and Liam, 29, left the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Stay strong, Miley.
